FRIENDS OF OCONOMOWOC PARKS & TRAILS PROJECTS

Chapman Park Project
Chapman Park is a lovely 18-acre passive natural park at the east end of Oconomowoc Parkway, just east of the Western Lakes Fire Station. If you have not visited yet, add it to your spring excursion calendar. The park features grassy pathway nature trails with scenic views of prairie, woodland, wetlands and a substantial pond. The historic barn in the park was recently re-roofed and the walls enclosed with weathered barnwood. The funds for this phase of the project were raised from the city, various community donors and Bank Five Nine.
It was suggested that before we finish Phase 1, which includes hanging the new doors and completion of exterior work, it would be more efficient and cost effective if we consider pouring the concrete floor in the barn this May. This will also make the space one step closer to the goal of making it a usable, programmable and educational community venue. The price tag for the concrete floor has come in at $17,500. FOPT is taking the lead on this part of the project and we have started a fundraising campaign. We need to have the donations in by the end of April in order to move forward with the project this spring.

What can you do? You can donate or If you know of potential donors, please reach out to them or pass their contact information along to any FOPT Board Member. There will be volunteer opportunities and more fun and visible projects in the park going forward, but the barn floor is a critical next step in the big picture. We very much appreciate your help in making some community connections. The project will be on our website and posted on social media soon.
Donations should be directed to Friends of Oconomowoc Parks and Trails P.O. Box 903 Oconomowoc 53066. Checks should be made out to Friends of Oconomowoc Parks and Trails with Chapman Park in the memo (checks are preferred).
With the short turnaround we are still working on getting this category added to our website, for the time being please choose the General Fund and indicate Chapman Park Barn in the notes of the donation. Donations to FOPT are eligible for tax deduction.
